During a recent Glass Tiger concert at the Lighthouse Performing Arts Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the band opened their songbook taking the audience back in time to when this music was conceived and became very revelent to a generation who embraced it. It was easy to pick out the life long Glass Tiger fans and very interesting to see legions of fans who were not even born during the early days which proves that many of the classics songs still hold value to the new generation of fans.
There was also a new single written by lead singer, Alan Frew. The song was called Canada's Song~Free To Be Strong And Free. Frew's performance of this anthem was heart felt and patriotic expressing his pride for his country.
After performing the legendary hits from the last 40 years, the band concluded with one song in a nearly 20 minute encore. The song was Don't Forget Me when I Am Gone, and had everyone in attendance on their feet and singing along. It was exciting and very moving to see the love for that song.
From one of Glass Tiger's very successful albums, Diamond Sun, was an anthem song called "My Song". The words ring loud and clear, "I want to sing my song, take me home where I come from. I want to sing my song, for you, for everyone." Over the last 40 years of touring and performing Glass Tiger has done just that. This very successful Canadian band has toured the world, but their music has been woven in the fabric of the Canadian music scene.
